Rita Sita SITORUS, MD

Prof. dr. Rita Sita Sitorus, Ph.D., Sp.M(K) is a senior consultant ophthalmologist specializing in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. She practices at the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia / RSUP Nasional Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) in Jakarta. Completed her medical degree and ophthalmology residency at Universitas Indonesia, followed by international fellowships in pediatric ophthalmology across Germany, Japan, and the Netherlands. She earned her Ph.D. from Vrije University Medical Center in Amsterdam, focusing on the molecular genetics of eye diseases and retinoblastoma, and completed post-doctoral research at the Molecular Gene Laboratory, University of Giessen, Germany. She serves on the Expert Committee for the National Measles & Rubella Program (Kemenkes/WHO) and the Expert Board for the National Plan on Childhood Cancer Program (2025-2029). Board member of the Indonesian College of Ophthalmology and the Asia Pacific Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (APSOPRS), council board member of the International Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Society (IPOSS), former chair of INA-POSS, and founder of the Indonesian Genetic Eye Disease Association (InaSGED). Recipient of the prestigious, APAO Outstanding Service in Prevention of Blindness Award 2025, in recognition of her monumental contributions to retinoblastoma care and regional eye health development.
