Prof. dr. Arief Sjamsulaksan Kartasasmita, Sp.M(K), M.Kes, Ph.D., is the Rector of Universitas Padjadjaran and a Professor of Ophthalmology specializing in vitreoretinal disease. He earned his doctorate from Juntendo University School of Medicine in Tokyo and has researched vitreoretinal conditions since 1997. Before his appointment as Rector, he served as Associate Professor of Vitreoretina at Universitas Padjadjaran for over a decade and continues to practice as a vitreoretina consultant at Cicendo Eye Hospital, Bandung. His career spans clinical practice, academic leadership, and ophthalmology research and education in Indonesia.
